PdaNet+

Version 5.10 brings significant changes that users should be aware of before updating:

1. Windows users also need to update from here.
2. The original WiFi Hotspot feature remains available in the separate FoxFi app. If needed, users can install it from the Play Store. For those interested, the previous version (4.19) of PdaNet+ can be found here.
3. Android now requires a new location permission due to the WiFi scan API call.

Please note that without root access, there are technical limitations on app capabilities. While we strive to provide the most convenient solutions for sharing phone internet, it may not always be the ideal or universal solution, especially for certain devices.

WiFi Direct Mode (new!)

PdaNet+ introduces a new "WiFi Direct Hotspot" feature compatible with all Android phones running version 4.1 or newer. This feature allows users to connect computers and tablets to their phones via WiFi. However, it necessitates either installing our client app or configuring a proxy depending on the connected device. More detailed instructions can be accessed by activating "WiFi Direct Hotspot" in PdaNet+ and tapping the "Help!" button.

If your Windows computer doesn’t detect the hotspot during pairing, try restarting the hotspot on your phone and selecting "Show All WiFi Direct Hotspots" to check if your adapter supports 5GHz.

FoxFi/WiFi Hotspot Mode (the old)

The original WiFi Hotspot function remains accessible through the separate FoxFi app for users who require it. Keep in mind that it may no longer function on newer phone models due to carrier updates. Even when operational, hotspot usage may still be metered. The new WiFi Direct Hotspot feature is designed to address these issues but does not support game devices, TVs, or TV streaming devices.

USB Mode

USB mode is compatible with all Android phones except for certain ZTE/Alcatel models, enabling connections to Windows or Mac systems. Additionally, there is a "WiFi Share" functionality that can transform Windows into a WiFi Hotspot for sharing PdaNet internet with other devices.

Bluetooth Mode

We offer Bluetooth mode as an alternative for connecting to Windows, though WiFi Direct mode is preferred.

Do I Need This Software?

PdaNet software has been available since 2003 and boasts over 30 million downloads. However, its necessity depends on your mobile data plan:

1. If your plan prohibits activating the mobile hotspot feature, PdaNet+ is essential.
2. If your plan has an unlimited data option but enforces a cap on hotspot usage, PdaNet+ can't bypass these restrictions.
3. In scenarios of unlimited data plans without caps or throttling, PdaNet+ may not offer significant benefits.
4. If your plan includes limited data and allows hotspot usage within that limit, PdaNet+ could be helpful.

If you're uncertain about your data plan's specifics, using PdaNet+ as a precaution won't cause any harm.

The free edition of PdaNet+ includes a timed usage limit but is otherwise identical to the full version.

Users with Sprint and AT&T carriers may encounter restrictions preventing app installation from the Play Store. In such cases, please install the apk file directly from here or proceed with installation from the computer side.
